Overview
The Abilene Auditorium, located in the heart of downtown, was built with bond funds approved by voters in 1967, and officially opened on November 21, 1970 with a performance by the Abilene Philharmonic which remains a constant tenant. The building included the Auditorium, Foyer, Exhibit Hall, kitchen, and offices.
From the spacious lobby to the fully computerized lighting system, the 45,000 square foot Abilene Auditorium will impress you. It has hosted a wide range of meetings and performances, from major conventions to community events, to world-famous singers and hit Broadway musicals.
The Abilene Auditorium is owned by the city of Abilene and managed, operated and booked by ASM Global.
The exceptional acoustics have drawn praise from the most veteran entertainers and the vast amount of fly and wing space allows elaborate set changes. The 70x72 ft. stage (which includes a hydraulically operated orchestra pit) faces 2,091 seats. An 90 additional seats may be added in the orchestra pit.
On the main level, 1,412 continental style seats and 12 wheelchair spaces are all within 116 feet of the stage. The 667-seat balcony is served by its own restroom facilities. Enclosed patios on either side of the auditorium are perfect for breaks, intermission, or VIP events. The 2500 square foot Red Carpet Lobby offers the perfect pre and post show space to mingle.
The Auditorium has four private and two chorus dressing rooms with showers and make-up lights, and a large Green Room adjacent to stage for receptions and press conferences.
